Some Random Thoughts

Today I heard a talk by Leonard Mlodinow on the Big Ideas Podcasts series about Randomness. As a mind boggling topic Mlodinow breaks down randomness into scenario based stories as an attempt to get the listeners head around the subject and fuel their intrigue.
Randomness is an area of mathematics which has always interested my pondering mind and although there are many books talks and studies of it, I'm usually left with so many unanswered questions. This talk doesn't fail to leave me with the same plethora of questions, but I did enjoy the variation of examples Mlodinow uses to contextualise the topic, from basketball to the stock market.
I wouldn't recommend listening to this podcast on route home, when you might be feeling a little sluggish, eagerly anticipating putting your feet up and tucking into dinner. I would however recommend it when you're wanting a good mentally stimulating talk to listen to whilst enjoying your breakfast brew.
The Big Ideas Podcasts usually cover equally mind boggling and stimulating content a few times a month for you to enjoy.
