Time Travel

It's Friday, and rather than mellowing out in anticipation for the weekend, I've decided to get my brain into gear by listening to a programme from 'Fresh Air' - Edinburgh's student radio.  The programme in question is from a new series called 'Erratic Thinking', where academics talk about a multitude of things.  This particular episode features Dr Alasdair Richmond talking about the possibilities of time travel, and how it may or may not be beneficial to us.

I was impressed by the audio quality and rather enjoyed the direct interview format, but mostly will be tuning back in for the interesting content this series looks to explore. This series came by the way of a recommendation from George - so thanks, George! We may even add it to the Said.fm engine for a Scottish twang to your playlists!

By sharing this programme with you today, I am going to open up a treasure trove of audio gems: it hails from Gresham College, where you will find thousands of audio talks on a diversity of mind massaging topics.

This particular talk, by Professor Ian Morison, examines the physics and measurement techniques we have employed to describe time.  Morison does a really good job of unfolding one of the most mysterious concepts in the universe, taking you on a journey from leap seconds to time travel.

If you haven't come across Gresham College before, it's a four hundred year old London venue that doesn't enrol any students or grant any degress but does offer free public lectures on lots of interesting subjects.
