Villager Animal Crossing: New Horizons has taken more than lives – nay, the world at large.
But part of what constitutes Villager Animal Crossing so good (yet so frustrating) is that it doesn’t really let you know just how you can play with it.
That’s why elsewhere, you will find plenty of novice guides helping players catch up to the decades-long understanding that fans have accumulated.
This is not a guide for novices, however.
No, these are the tips, tricks, and hacks that even the most veteran and experienced Animal Crossing players might not know about New Horizons.
From the way to kick a villager out, island partners, and 100 percent accurate hybrid blossom breeding guides, we have got you covered.
There’s never been a time when this many people were obsessively playing Animal Crossing in the exact same period, which has led in several fan-made tools and websites which will prove essential to making your island escape a real escape.
Each of the turnip data you want to purchase low, sell high
The turnip game seems to have gone through some severe inflation in New Horizons.
Folks will hardly get out of bed for anything under a 500 bell selling cost.
That might be because we have never had too many fan-made tools to both predict or even swap the best turnip prices.
First, there is Turnip Calculator, that gives a beautifully streamlined graph illustrating your guaranteed minimal, in addition to predicting your island’s greatest that week.
Notice, however, that it maxes out around 400, so it doesn’t account for the acts of god which get people those high 500-600 costs.
If you are a betting woman, we’d propose the Turnip Prophet though, which offers a similar service with far more granular details about probability.
When all else fails, though, try out the Turnip Exchange.
It’s where people with those extraordinary prices can set up queues to provide players with all the Dodo Codes that grant them access to this lucky island.
Be aware that many require hints and gifts, and are even using guards to make sure there’s no tomfooleryWill the Dow Joan’s turnip market recover from this type of insider trading?
Don’t use the Amazon of Villager Animal Crossing, except with this hack
Simply use data-mined guides, particularly for hybrid flowers
If you thought Villager Animal Crossing was a simple game about building a cute city, then you definitely haven’t ventured into the hell of breeding hybrid blossoms in New Horizons.
It’s gotten demonstrably more difficult from the new game.
Far from becoming as simple as using the first how-to guide you googled, every walkthrough has distinct or even flat-out contradictory information.
Short of obtaining a degree in biology and genetics, though, your best option for breeding those rare blossoms will always come from guides which are based on information data-mined in the game’s coding (that means it had been lifted from the programming itself).
Specifically, we recommend this supreme guide, in addition to this Google Doc and Spreadsheet. (Though this has a fantastic roundup of infographics.)
In cases like this, enthusiasts on Reddit will be more inclined to get it right than many gaming media outlets.
A good method to distinguish between a fantastic guide and a misinformed one is whether it takes genotype (meaning the hereditary traits of stated blossom ) into account.
You might even want to even take a stab at a few of the specific flower plots people post for the most efficient methods of getting there. Now, that doesn’t solve all our troubles.
Due to constant updates and the wide range of ways that rare hybrid flowers can be attained, you are going to want to stay on the watch for new guides or upgrades to the docs we recorded above.
Talk to friends visiting your own island through your IRL phone
Trying to communicate in Villager Animal Crossing via chat on the Change is a nightmare.
Which is why you should definitely download the Nintendo Switch Online app (on iPhone or Android) and link it to a game via Nook Link (you will also need to do this to download custom QR codes routines, which we’ll get into below).
Now, you’ll be able to text like you normally want and have it pop up over your head as speech in the match.
Up your custom designs with all these tools and websites
Getting custom layout patterns for clothes, paintings, or floor patterns really can bring some character to your own island (for free!)
AC Patterns’ editor even allows you convert literally any image on your computer into a QR code which you could then upload in the game. There’s also treasure troves to be found in the subreddits (there is the general r/AnimalCrossing, but also r/AnimalCrossingDesign and r/ACNHqrcodes) and a curated Instagram page.
Data-mined guides to Mystery Islands help you understand what to look for
once more, the data-mining fans come through for the rescue.
This time, it is for trustworthy guides for your Mystery Islands you can fly to with your Nook Mile ticket.
This entire website (constructed by Ash Wolf and Ninji) provides interactive maps for each island, along with data-mined information on what you may get out of each.
Again, this always has a caveat that the sport is undergoing constant updates — and particular bugs and fish can only be caught in certain weeks or time of day.
So if there are changes or new islands included, we will want new guides for 100 percent accuracy.
Here’s a visualization somebody created with the advice from the site previously, though.
Move around a workbench in your pocket at all times
We’ve all been there. Whether you are rearranging the trees on a far-off part of the island or finally located the scorpion Mystery Island, inevitably the tool you need in that exact moment will break.
But this trick will save you no matter what.Just make certain to carry a DIY Workbench and a number of the basic materials you need for said tools in your pocket in any way times.
It is going to save a lot of time and energy.
You can actually catch a prediction on TV to your island’s climate
This one might be more of an wonderful detail as opposed to a hack hack. It has limited utility, mostly helpful for those seeking to breed hybrid flowers or find specific fish and bugs that only come out in the rain.
But it’s still rad as hell.If you have a TV, you’re able to actually catch an accurate weather forecast for the own island broadcast at 6:15 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 6:30 p.m., along with 10:45 p.m. (for funsies, 1 Redditor also suggests checking out what’s playing at 3:33 a.m. on Saturdays).
That comes directly from the official Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Nintendo guidebook, so you know it’s legit.
Use an island planner until you terraform
Terraforming in Villager Animal Crossing is a tedious job, but can produce banger results.
Spare yourself some of the despair, though, by avoiding hours on an idea you ultimately decide you hate or realize is impossible.
Use some of the island planning tools that fans are creating instead.
There’s the joyful Isle Planner browser sport, which you can use to map out a very top-down map perspective of the island.
The ideal trick for obtaining a villager to move out fast
The phenomenon of evicting ugly villagers out of your own island or even villager searching for the most coveted ones is fairly unique to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
However, Nintendo has a bigger heart than many of its players, so there is no compact way to guarantee your most-hated villagers will take the clue and GTFO.
Guides suggest everything from torturing them with nets, ignoring them, or trapping them inside their homes.
Other have resorted to reporting those villagers to Isabelle in Resident Services, but all that does is reset them.
TikTok user Meowiko actually found among the faster methods, even though it still requires trial and error.
Be warned, it also involves time traveling, so it is not for you in the event that you’ve chosen a moral stance against that.
The fact remains that neglect is in fact the secret, but takes too long to be effective on a daily basis.
So here’s the hack: Start by talking to all of the villagers you like and would like to keep on your island.
Don’t speak to the ones that you want to depart.
Now, time travel (meaning save, close the match application, go to system settings on your Switch, and turn off syncing along with your time zone) by setting the clock just one month into the future.
Reboot the game and check to see if any of your villagers possess a thought bubble above their heads, an indicator that they’re considering moving out. When it is a villager that you would like to stay, make certain that you dissuade them.
If not one of the villagers that you want to depart have thought bubbles, jump another day ahead (again, talking to the villagers you want to remain and ignoring the ones you don’t).
Rinse and repeat until the deed is completed and your own island is cleared of uggos.
Even in case you can’t kick out all the uggos from the island, though, at least these hacks will guarantee it is bursting with rare blossoms and terraformed to perfection.
